Congratulations to Ms. Laforet! Harris County Teacher of the Month
Congratulations to our fifth grade Science teacher, Ms. Laforet, for being selected Teacher of the Month by the Harris County Education Foundation. The following is a video podcast created by her students in honor of the award.

On behalf of Houston ISD, our immediate community, our students and our staff, I wanted to thank you for your service to John J. Herrera Elementary School. I admire your nurturing teaching style and your persistence to get the students to experience success. You have ‘cleaned house’ this year by being named the Herrera ESL Teacher of the Year, the North Region ESL Teacher of the Year, and now the Education Foundation Teacher of the Month. Thank you for being a simbolic educational leader. Your modeling goes beyond expectations and even imagination by mentoring new teachers, guiding student-teachers from our UH Quest Program and most importantly, inspiring students to grow through academic progress =) We appreciate your service!
